New Zealand is famous mostly for its white wines, most notably its Sauvignon Blanc – considered by experts as the best in this grape variety. However there are many other wines produced in that country. In the Central Otago area, the main grape is Pinot Noir. On a wine tour I took recently, I discovered two wineries that I can recommend: Peregrine and Carrick. We sampled a number of their wines but I chose one bottle from each winery to bring back home: The Peregrine Pinot Noir 2011 and the Carrick Excelsior Pinot Noir 2010. If you can fine wines from these wineries in your area – I suggest you sample them. Cheers!
